Q&A: Why FemDomination2 is taking longer

Dear fans,

We all know you would like to play FemDomination2 as quickly as possible. Since the game has been delayed for quite a few months, below is an explanation of Jari Vuoristo, founder and head of the development, of CITOR3:

Hi Jari, what's your role at CITOR3?
At the moment I'm responsible for the content and project development of FemDomination2. My goal is to get to the position, where I could fully focus on the thing I love doing most: creating content and tackling all sorts of technical challenges.

When running a company, lots of time goes to other duties as well. I do the best I can to fully focus on the project. But every time I get interrupted by something, it disturbs my work flow and it takes a bit of time to get back at it. This is why I have minimalized all social interactivity during this last phase of finishing the game. So my apologies for the slow replies. I am piling these up for when I have time.

How is it to be working on FemDomination2 during this global pandemic? Are you affected by it?
After the summer I moved into a new office, which is really amazing! I finally have the space to do proper motion capture and VR testing. This is a huge difference compared to my old office! It's now much easier to test the game or capture motion data for the project. This also shows in FemDomination 2. No longer was I limited to the space of my office. But having no limitations also caused FemDomination2 to be the most complex game I've ever built.

Of course COVID-19 has influenced the game progress. Currently I'm sharing the office with my wife and unfortunately this means getting interrupted. I also worked too hard last year and was close to a burn-out. So I made some changes in my life: sleep well, work reasonable amount of hours per day, don't drink too much alcohol and remember to exercise on a daily basis.

Why has the release date for FemDomination2 been postponed several of times? We want to play it!
Well, there are several of reasons why there is a delay:

  1. Starting from spring 2020 we got more and more supporters on Patreon. I felt obligated to deliver content to them in a faster pace. And what I decided to do is to create non-game related scenes. This was a mistake. Lesson learned!
  2. Secondly, there have been requests for implementing/testing new VR devices for the game. This is not a fast process... I simply had to drop this feature from the first release.
  3. Thirdly: If I'm not pleased with how the scene looks and feels, I revise it again and again until it's something I am happy with. The Dream scenes have been REALLY challenging contentwise: having the logic of the gameplay but making the environment somehow surrealistic and wacky.

Is there any way we can follow the progress of FemDomination2 more closely?
I tend to post updates on Patreon. Usually I do this once a week but sometimes it takes a bit longer. One of the reason why I don't share everything is the element of surprise. But honestly, on Patreon 99% of the content is shared! The CITOR3 Patreon page should also have up-to date info at regular intervals.

Also, without our Patrons this game wouldn't be possile! I'm so grateful for their support!

How long do you think you and your team still need to finish the game?
At the moment I'm finalizing the Dreams scenes. After this comes the Finale and the in-between scenes. Believe me, I would really love to give an estimation of when we can release the game. But as the Dreams scenes have showed before: you might get stuck with technical challenges you didn't expect to happen. My team has often tried to get an answer from me and the only thing when asked has been my best guess. But hang in there because we are CLOSE!
